Michael Douglas fights Throat Cancer, optimistic
The Hollywood star has completed the first eight weeks of his treatment for throat cancer, and said that he was very optimistic about it.
The 65-year old star of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was diagnosed with throat cancer. He found out about the illness when he complained about having sore throat before the beginning of summer.
Michael Douglas underwent radiation and chemotherapy to fight his throat cancer.
Having completed the eight weeks therapy, Douglas’ case will be reevaluated to conclude if the actor needs surgery or not.
Michael Douglas blames himself for being a smoker and an alcohol drinker for having the illness. He said that the cancer has not reached areas below his neck yet, meaning nothing has gone down yet and expectations are good.
Despite being diagnosed with stage four caner of the throat, Douglas also jokingly said that the percentage of his recovery was high and thinks that it was about 80%.
Michael complains about his throat being sore, that is why during interviews, he always keep a bottle of warm water by his side.
Before the Hollywood actor underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatments, he first enjoyed his summer traveling with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and their children. “They like Americans this year in Europe too. It is nice. When we screw up they like us a lot more,” kidding on his interview on a popular late night show.
Michael said that he is upset he will not be able to return overseas to endorse his new movie Wall Street, due to his hectic treatment schedule. However, he said that his dedication to the film is very firm.
“It really made New York look so sexy and stunning. I looked good too,” the brave actor boasted.
His new film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, directed by Oliver Stone will be in theaters on September 24. Also starring in the film are Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, and Frank Langella in supporting roles.
